Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is my favorite feminist because she is strong willed, resilient, and fights for all groups of people. She has a powerful way with words and inspires me every day in my leadership role to persevere, be independent, and fight against social injustice. She is a role model and encourages me to speak my mind. I also love new york city, and that’s where she is from!

My favorite feminist is Emma Watson.  She has helped others understand the real meaning of feminism and how it is not just for women or "anti-men".  She helps define it as equality for all genders and inclusive towards everyone. She has continued to advocate feminism through her #heforshe movement and has continue to enlighten others on what it means to be a feminist today.

Wendy Condra

Treasurer

Major: Biomedical Laboratory Science

My favorite feminist is Rosalind Franklin who was a chemist who discovered the structure of DNA (the double helix) but her work was stolen from her by two male scientists and they got the credit for it. She was a pioneer for women to work and research in STEM careers even if they are the only woman. I hope people will continue to follow in her footsteps and inspire other women in male dominated fields as well.

I am inspired by women who are trailblazers in politics and law. An example is the first ever women to be a Supreme Court Justice, Sandra Day O'Connor. She is less recognized as other female justices such as Ruth Bader Ginsburg or Sonia Sotomayor, however she deserves to be honored as the first. Despite her underlying conservative values, she was the decicive votes that protect the rights of women and help numerous people.

My favorite feminist figure is actress Mariska Hargitay. She is most known for her work playing Olivia Benson in Law and Order SVU. A sensitive detective who helps survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse. When she isn't playing Olivia, Mariska spends her time working with the Joyful Heart Foundation. An organization founded by her that provides support for sexual abuse and domestic violence survivors. Mariska’s work on and off screen has inspired me to specialize in women’s health to provide a safe space for women.
